Manoj Mahindrakar, Principal

As the Principal of Don Juan Avila Middle School, I am thrilled to welcome all of our students and parents to our school.  At Don Juan Avila Middle School, we understand and recognize that the middle school child is a unique individual in a transitional phase of intellectual, physical, psychological, social, and moral/ethical development.  Our students bring with them unique strengths, diverse needs, and varied abilities.  At Don Juan Avila Middle School we are committed to building the foundation for student success in the workplace, society and the world of the future.

Our teachers’ instructional focus is always on student learning. They work collaboratively at each grade level to provide strong standards based instructional programs in all departments. Instruction at all three grade levels is student-centered with teachers working in partnership to build academic units which challenge and motivate each individual child.

At Don Juan Avila Middle School, we emphasize the importance of the whole child.  We provide many opportunities for students to showcase their talents and serve the community of DJAMS. The Associated Student Body (ASB) organizes and leads many fun events at school. The Peer Assistance Leadership program (PAL) provides opportunities for students to participate in philanthropic and character building activities.  Students can even build their own community service project in the Bronco Pride program.  Our students perform in instrumental and vocal concerts as well as drama productions.  In addition, academic contests such as Academic Pentathlon, American Math Competition, Geography Bee, History Day, Spelling Bee, and Color It Orange are encouraged and supported by the staff.

It is a pleasure to work with all of our students, staff and parents.  We encourage parental involvement in the middle school and we are fortunate to have an outstanding PTSA which supports our programs and provides our parents with various opportunities to participate in the middle school experience.  Each year we continue to build on our positive and engaging traditions at Don Juan Avila Middle School.

I am sincerely committed to building relationships with all our students and community members.  Please feel free to reach out to share your thoughts, compliments or concerns.  Working with students and our community is the best part of my job!
